Music
Terence James is a Scottish artist and musician, based in North Ayrshire, specialising in line art.
He studied under Alison Thomas and received support from Keith Salmond, winner of the Gemola Prize. A chance encounter with Alan Moore proved pivotal—Moore encouraged him to forgo art school and instead cultivate his own style through direct exploration of consciousness.
His practice is both a dialogue with the self and a bridge to others.
“My art is a way of examining my subconscious processes. A psychiatrist might look at it and say I need help—but others might simply have a laugh. I’d like to think people can laugh at my work, or, if they wish, discover something deeper.”
